Cutting data entry errors to less than 1 percent.
The average hand entry method of inputting scaled data from questionnaires to a computer yields an error rate of 7 to 10 percent. What's more, it can be extremely time and labor intensive. At Tragon, we have developed and use a system that eliminates hand entry. It yields an error rate of less than 1 percent and allows data to be inputted at approximately two entries per second, with most sensory tests tabulated in less than an hour.
Available for sale, the Digitizer Data Entry System™ (DDES™) 7.1 is easy to use, requiring just a few hours of training and pays for itself in less than two days. Although the DDES™ was designed for Tragon's QDA™ system, it can be used to enter other types of scaled
data as well. Once a data file is created, any industry standard statistical package can be
used for analysis.
The DDES™ features a computer drawing tablet and digital pen to record data points, along with up to three user-supplied headers, which identify a questionnaire. Almost any type
of response obtained by a mark on a questionnaire can be used.
A fast, accurate, flexible solution
A questionnaire is placed on the drawing tablet, and as each mark is touched with the digital pen, a numerical value is computed and stored in a data file. The DDES™ can accommodate multiple page and unique questionnaires. Horizontal and vertical scales with different numerical values can be combined within each questionnaire. Users define the data file format, including the field width for data values. Up to 245 scales can be entered as a single questionnaire.
Once file accuracy is verified and a hard copy obtained, questionnaires can be disposed of, saving space.
